The View from John Bell’s Dock
Location: West Hawk Lake, Manitoba
This is West Hawk Lake with rain clouds rolling in. The sunlight creates subtle pastel colours as it reflects off the layers of low lying clouds. This being the calm before the storm there was very little wind so the smooth water picked up the reflected colours. Eventually the clouds opened up and I had to take shelter off John Bell’s dock where I started this painting. I was lucky to get most of the colours laid in before it started to rain “cats and dogs”.
